extremely sharp macro lens.
Extremely sharp lens, small size and light weight make this a very good macro to travel with altough distance to subject can get very close obscuring light on the subject at its closest focus. Slower focus to other macro lenses ive used but that could be the mirrorless Sony NEX3N camera im using.
A uv filter cant be used with the supplied hood so another hood can be used if a uv filter to protect the lens is on.Read full review

Good lens although everything pictured not included
The lens looks in good shape and the pictures I took with it look good. The bottom lens cover was not included, although it was in the pictures, and instead had aluminum foil covering the bottom. I have a cap of my own, so not a big problem.Read full review

Solid Value
This is Sony's most economic E mount macro lens. While it was designed in early 2010's, it still delivers good images on older and newer cameras. It's a true macro, and would make a good addition for close up shots. It seems to work better with older models like the A5100 that has the zoom built in into the camera. I had some problems with the A6400 as the focus ring on my unit (it was used) didn't seem to respond properly. A solid value, but not totally on par with more modern, higher end lenses.Read full review

SEL30M35 on Sony A6500
Lightweight, solid construction, close focus (of course it's a macro), excellent sharpness.
For the price, this is an excellent value. I've got a Zeiss Touit 32mm f/1.8 Lens for low light situations, but it's not a macro. So, if you need a macro on a budget for your E-mount, this is it.Read full review

Great value
Have used it for a couple of days and it meets or exceeds my expectations. Works great on my A6000. Haven’t used it other than as a macro lens. It’s fun to take macro picture of different things

Excellent product for the price!
I held off on paying market price for a brand new macro lens for my NEX F3 & was very excited when I came across this one! It looks a tad worn on the outside, but my wife & I are extremely impressed with the quality of close up shots. I've only used this a couple of times since I got it today, but it feels very solid & I don't expect any issues. My other Sony lenses that originally came with my camera have held up, so I expect with diligent care, so will this one.Read full review

Just what I needed without a lot of money.
For one thing the price for this lens was pretty good. I put it on my camera almost immediately, worked great. I do need to use my tripod more to really get close.

Macro for daily use
Both for everyday shooting and for macro (up to 1:1 life size) the lens is light-weight and good quality. At f3.5 it is not for subjects requiring the "fastest" aperture, and unlike a pancake design, this one does stick out from the body. So I'll keep my sel20f28 for minimalist form-factor, but rely on the sel30m35 for the times when form factor is less important, or when macro focusing is required.Read full review
