Good but slow
Could have been excellent but they have installed a slow cpu which disconnects the remote to allow it to do its work, sometimes up to 2 minutes. This happens when it is starting up, when programs stop and start. Very frustrating at the time.
I don't have the patience to enjoy it.
The design concept is very good in principle. A few minor problems like playing a video in slow motion takes 9 key presses and to its slowest speed 27 presses.
Could be 3 presses on the remote if they allocated the remote keys differantly without physically changing the remote or lost of function.Read full review...

I bought this Sony HDD recorder to replace an identical unit which had served me well for 11 years. The recording quality is excellent an the ability to record two Freeview channels at once is very handy. The unit is a bit slow to start up sometimes but that was also the case for the original machine. If I get another 11 years of good service I'll be well satistfied.Read full review...

Easy to set up and simple to use.
Bought to replace our Sony DVD recorder which although working fine,limited us to recording only one programme when out and by size of DVD disc.
The Sony SVRHDT1000 receiver solved these problems and upgraded out HD ready TV to HD. It was quick and easy to set up following the clear, simple instructions in the manual. We have a Sony television and by pressing the Bravia sync button, all was done. Took approximately 10 minutes.
Once set up, recording is simple - option to set up recording for the whole series or single programme. No putting in dates and times, just done through the electronic programme guide. Love being able to watch a programme from the begining whilst it is still recording.
The only thing I miss is the screen saver that used to operate when listening to the radio. This appears to have disappeared from the settings when sync'd with the TV.Read full review...
Good value S/H Twin Tuner Freeview recorder.
At the price these boxes are fetching these days they are good value.
You just need to get used to the clunky user interface and keep the channel list up to date.

Excellent machine
Excellent machine. Easy to use and setup. Manuals and updates are still available on Sony website. Think I may experiment and upgrade the drive to an ssd then the machine will be near silent.

Took some setting up (extra expense) but great now!
Very good now it is set up! After several attempts to get it it self tune (following instructions) it still would not tune to the correct signals leading to big pixelation problems. We had to resort to getting a 'man' in to sort it out. After half an hour he did sort it and now it is working fine.
