Making a Sony TV smart

The UWA-BR100 works well but is expensive for what it does. I suspect a generic dongle would probably work. I didn't want to take a chance on taking a generic dongle to Uruguay where the TV is located which had a UWA-BR100 which worked well before it failed after about one year of service. There are two TV's there both with the same type of dongle one failed and the other is still working. From my experience, the dongle has a 50% chance of failing in one year.Read full review

Hareware was easy -- Software not so much

Actual installation of LAN Adapter was very easy. For whatever reason, the built in software to connect did not automatically implement. Result was long (60 minutes or so) telcon with SONY Tech Support. Tech guided my thru several approaches and finally an internet connection was successfully made. Tech was good but I had to endure the long wait time and the ridiculous, recorded and repeated messages while on hold. . All well that ends well.Read full review
