NW-ZX2 awesome sound!

This player surpassed my expectations! I purchased for the hi fidelity sound. I only play flac hrs files for the sound quality is 100 times better than MP3. The player comes with 128 Gig of internal storage, I added a 256 gig micro sd card so I have tons of storage space. If you want the best portable HR player under 1000 bucks, this is the one.Read full review

Low Audio Power Output and Poor Battery Life

I am happy with the sound, the ease of use, and the built quality of this Sony player. There are two things I am very unhappy with. (1) The audio power output is very low. I'm not even using hard to drive headphones but I find a lot of music are just not loud enough. I later found out that the amp section of the player is only 15 mW rms per channel into 16-ohms; the iPhone 6, not built as a music player, provides 26.39 mW!!! Not sure why Sony design it this way. As it stands, it can only drive the most efficient efficient IEMs or headphones and not much anything else. What a shame. I also bought the Sony PHA-3 DAC/amp and that helps somewhat. (2) This thing's battery life is terrible. I pretty much turn everything off except the player and I can only get, perhaps, 5 hours out of it, and I'm not even playing truly high res files or using balanced headphone...Read full review

Solid full feature player

It is probably one of the best sounding portable players available, especially if you try it with double speed DSD files. But 5.6Mhz DSD use up 2 times the storage space of 24 bit 192k or 2.8Mhz DSD. Jazz At The Pawnshop took up over 7G. but you definitely can hear the increase resolution. The earphones also makes a big difference. The HIFIMan RE 600 is OK, but the AKG K3003i are really the ones you should at least use to get the best sound. Forget using big inefficient headphones like the Audeze LCD-3. The Sony does not have enough power to drive it effectively, but all the in-ear should be fine. You probably would use it for a portable device anyway. The battery life is pretty good even on hi-res files. I mostly leave wi-fi off. Charging time is a bit long though. You can also stream music and video and watch youtube with wi-fi. Of course that will shorten battery life. I mostly use the player to play hi-res music and am very happy with the sound quality.Read full review

Great sound and build quality.

Great sounding DAP, supports multiple Audio file formats, obviously high resolution audio files.
Very easy to move or delete files, compared to the Apple DAPs.
Highly recommended.

Best portable music player

I won a new Pioneer have had and A&K 120 and this beats them both. Sound quality is superb as are the ergonomics. It has some quirks. The volume buttons are slow to respond. Regardless it has good screen graphics and battery life is very long. It drives my Westone W50 earbuds very well but has a bit of hard time with my electrostatic over the earphones. No portable is capable of driving such a load without an external headphone amp. Buy this Walkman. Its a home run for the most part. I love it.Read full review

NW-ZX2 - Prepare to be Amazed

I have had this player for 2 years now. Yeah, it's expensive but I cannot dispute the quality of playing Hi-Res Vinyl 24bit/96 & 192Khz recordings - they are outstanding. Naturally a set of Hi-Res headphones is necessary - I am hearing/learning music I know really well, all over again. It is amazing and it has no successor, it is the bees knees. The only gripe I have it it has a long start-up procedure where it does a file update, every time you turn it on. This takes a minute, and I use it nearly every night in bed. Sometimes it tricks you and you open your music folder but then it cuts off and does the update again. If it wasn't for this, I would have given it 5 stars. In saying this, knowing what I know, would I still buy it? Absolutely!Read full review

A little bit heavy. Battery and sound are good.

The battery can support continuous play for 8 hours. Mild use can support 4 days. This device has good sound. His analysis of high-definition sources is very powerful.

Sound is good

Good Sound, but difficult to move files to, not recommended for everybody, it is a hassle and very time consuming restoring all of the metadata and artwork also putting songs in order, Not everyone gets their music in the same way, So for some it may be ok, but the player is of high quality, Sony should build an iTunes like music center for Mac,Read full review
