Decided to retire my GS2 after the nav buttons no longer worked, replacing the screen and finally the camera getting black spot in the picture.

Purchased 3.5 years after release - Quite a bargain

The phone looks beautiful at first glance. It fits perfectly in the hand and pocket. As soon as I received the phone I thoroughly examined all the settings and had a good look around the Operating System (Android Lollipop).

I was a little disappointed at first because I found it lacked a few settings I liked mainly SMS notification repeat and the ability to use SIM card for managing contacts. (I upgraded from a Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 using android Jelly Bean and it had these settings). Later I checked on a friend newer Samsung J7, it didn't include these options. I guessed maybe it's not a manufacturer thing, maybe Android OS no longer support these features.

So far so good. I've been using the phone for over 4 weeks now. Display is excellent and vivid, camera including video recording is awesome, especially outdoor full light shots. Dust and water protection is a boon. I added a silicon case and tempered glass for added protection. The phone now feels a lot tougher. The phone is quite heavy but seems well built. It feels great in hand with its metal uni-body and front glass. The lock/unlock key is too protruded and 2 times before using the silicon case the phone unlocked all by itself in my pant's pocket. However, now the case seems to have solved this problem, since it made the key less protruding.

Like almost all manufacturers, Sony installs unnecessary apps which I would have liked to uninstall but can't. Well, after all, bloatware has become part of Android. The OS is quite zippy on this powerful hardware. The battery can last 4 days with moderate use (I am a very light user and am happy with the battery lifetime), and more days or less depending on usage. The battery is not removable, which can be a trouble but I really never had a dead battery on my previous phone and never needed to remove the battery to replace it.

The speaker is a little feeble compared to other phone (maybe due to its water protection) but I managed to find a somewhat loud ringtone and notification tone to partially solve the problem. Otherwise sound quality is good.

I bought the phone 3.5 years after its release and I can say at $135, it was a quite bargain for the tremendous amount of features it offers. At its time of release it was most probably overpriced (like all other premium phone). However the phone market has a lot of competition now and we can expect to see some very powerful smartphones with good specs for a decent price soon enough.

Great product, Super excited to have this.

i upgraded from the xperia Z to this phone. I didn't want to get the Z1 because i dreaded the 5" screen size and i dread even more the Z2 being even bigger.

This phone is exactly like my Z, but with upgraded OS, unlocked, able to still use the LTE network (im using Tmobile USA, not sure if AT&T is supported and def not supported by Verizon) better battery life and best of all, smaller size. i don't have to feel like I'm walking with a pair of slippers in my pocket anymore. One additional thing to note, the edges are not as "pointy" as the Z which makes the phone appear smaller and more phone-like rather than a small brick.

Some might say, for a phone that is this small, why pay so much for premium. My response is, you are getting a premium phone, with a smaller screen unlike other companies that charge a little less but give so much less features/strengths.

The best one hand use android smartphone. Great looking.

First of all, I don't like the big screen cellphone, because I have tablet. So my cellphone have to be easy to use. 4" is the largest size I can accept.
At the same time, I like to buy the most powerful cellphone. I know that Iphone is the best 4" cellphone, but I don't like the apple's ios system. so Xperiaz1compact is my best choice. This compact version is not those mini version, Sony didn't downgrade the hardware when they make the cellphone smaller.

Great Intro to a Smartphone

Very happy with this phone. I wanted to upgrade to a smartphone (my first) but I wanted to find something that wasn't a phablet, that still had a good camera, that had a decent battery life and that was under $200, all while being easy to learn and navigate. I had read rave reviews about the Z1 Compact and was excited that it had all the hardware/software of its flagship counterpart, just in a smaller frame. It was just barely over my $200 budget (by $20) but had everything I wanted so I went for it. I am glad I did. As long as you turn on all the power saver features, you can easily get 3-4 days out of the phone with lite data usage. The only problem I have had with it so far is, the metal cover on the water tight seal of the charging port (to help you open the port) came off after a couple of weeks, but it was easily fixable with some superglue.
The camera on this phone, I felt, was better than advertised too. I took some pictures of a sunset and the colors just popped, even when not set at the max 20Mpxl (they were taken at 8Mpxl). Great quality. I am overall very happy with this phone and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good intro smartphone.Read full review...

I'm always on the go, I need smaller phone with bigger phones capability. With 4.3 inches screen this phone fits perfectly in my suit pocket, or running shorts, though I wouldn't keep it in while running. You can put it on your pool side while you're swimming laps and still looking hot for the night out after.

One down side from what I heard, is that the phone scratches easily. So I bought screen protector and a back cover and till now I have not one scratch on my awesome Z1 Compact. Love this phone so much.Read full review...

Жалко что нельзя прикрепить фотографии к отзыву!
Заказывала телефон своему парню,точно такой же телефон я покупала в магазине у себя в городе,так что у меня есть с чем сравнить телефон этого продавца.
Итак,задняя панель совершенно отличается!по середине должно быть SONY,а на телефоне который мы получили,вместо этого слова "XPERIA" и внизу какие то цифры.
В интернете мы нашли информацию,что в Японии компания "Докомо" выпустила телефон,который внешне немного отличается,вбейте в поисковик "докомо телефон Sony z1 mini" и узнаете как он выглядит)
Приготовьтесь к тому,что задняя панель будет точно такой же,а вот передняя как и должна быть.
На телефоне есть небольшой скол задней панели,который не особо бросается в глаза.
И последнее,что немаловажно,это то что сетка динамика не надёжно закреплена!нажимая на неё пальцем,она прогибается и через неё просвечиваются внутренности,что не должно быть!
отсюда следует вопрос "а водонепроницаемый ли он"?
хотелось проверить,но решили не рисковать...
сам же телефон оказался таким же шустрым,как и тот которым я пользуюсь уже год!
задумайтесь,стоит ли тратить такие большие деньги за телефон,который возможно не является оригиналом.Read full review...
