Sony Mavica MVC-CD1000 2.1MP Digital Camera - Black & Metallic silver

Still relevant, lots of manual options

It's. 17 year old big camera with only 2.1 mp. So what, it takes great photos, 10x optical zoom works perfect, and has a ton of manual options easily accessible. Manual focus, image stabilization, white balance all adjustable on the fly without shuffling through menus. Best part is it makes hard copy on disc so you never have to worry about downloading or if your computer crashes. Downside is you need a few seconds between clicks. Great flash too, doesn't bleach images.
Pictures look great printed up to 5x7. The only thing suffered with the low mp is the photos aren't really croppable as they quickly pixelate.

The only media it stirs on is the cd. Works on the same np 550 batteries as most other Mavicas.

I'm the furthest thing you can get to a professional photographer, trust me. I have never been able to take a halfway decent photo with any kind of camera. When I am asked by random strangers or tourists to please use their camera or iPhone to snap a group photo of them, I always beg off and have them choose someone else -- anyone else - - to take their picture, because I always foul it up. Then I blundered onto a Sony Mavica CD-1000 for sale on eBay, and the camera just sounded like a dream so I added the auction to my Watched Items. There was simply no interest in this camera, so I bought it for some silly amount of money. I love this camera and I use it all the time. I photograph birds in flight, my dogs "dancing" in the side yard, the teenager next door when she dyes her hair purple, snowstorms, sunsets, bear cubs in trees, you name it. It's like I can't make a mistake. If you are photographically challenged, grab one of these lovely old cameras. It's heavy, it's complicated, but it's well worth it!
