Pretty good
My primary reason for getting these speakers was to complete a surround system around a recently acquired set of Sony front speakers from the same series (ss-f7000 and ss-cn5000). They have proved perfect for that duty. As a standalone speaker, they are fine given the usual limitations of a speaker this size. There are lots of comparable alternatives size and cost-wise if you shop carefully. Energy, Boston, Polk, just a few possibilities if voice matching a set is not a consideration. Perfectly decent speaker for the $. I could use them in many situations and be happy.Read full review

Sounds good to me
A friend of mine picked up a pair of these ss-b1000 speakers on the cheap ($15 dollars at Goodwill--lucky find). The audio they provide from TV and music is great and worth every penny of the $60 I was happy to pay for them here. They work great with Sony receiver and subs I have been stashing away until now. Bang on!Read full review

Ss-b1000
These speakers put out great sound as long as you put 100 watts or better into them.
My receiver put 135 watts into them and they can handle a bit more. Never pushed them harder than 135 watts because My receiver only put out 135 watts per channel. My new receiver puts out 145 watts per channel but I got all new higher watt speakers so I never used them with my new receiver. I am confident that they would have performed well I just wanted way more power from my 4 main speakers for the music application. They were awesome in the 5.1, 7.1, and 9.2 application for movies and also worked well as surrounds side and rear. They ran very nicely as my front mains but I upgraded my receiver and amplifiers so I went up to 350 watts per channel on the 4 main speakers with 12" speakers in the enclosure used for mid range instead of sub with a separate amp. I use two 10' velodyne for my sub now. The only reason why I'm selling this system is because I upgraded everything.Read full review
Great Replacement Speaker!
One of my husbands brand new speakers like this fell and ruined the sound. I was thrilled to find this replacement for him as he is very into great quality sound for his music. He is very happy with this speaker. Replaced the front with the front of the new speaker and now this replacement looks and acts like new! Shipped quickly and packaged great! Very reasonably priced as well.Read full review

Excellent bookshelf speakers for Restaurant live music
I had 2 of these speakers I found at Goodwill, really liked the sound, so I bought 2 more from a really great E-bay seller. I am a Singer/Guitarist, playing 3 nights every weekend in the Basque Restaurant in San Juan Bautista. I previously had a hard time getting decent sound reproduction as I could only place speakers on one side of the restaurant which is long and narrow. Using my stereo (supposedly a no-no) amp with 1 of these speakers on each end of the bar with the channel B speakers (right and left) reversed and pointing front and rear (one as my monitor), and the channel A speakers placed in between them (8 feet apart) and pointing in at about 20 degrees, I now have an excellent sound spread and a perfect monitor (I sit at one end of the bar). All this for a total cost of $80.00 for the four bookshelf speakers, and a used $45.00 Audio Source Amp 100. The dining area is 50X20 and seats about 60 people. With the volume set at 11:00, the sound is more than adequate for background music.Read full review

Surprisingly good .
They sound surprisingly better than they look and thy look very good , specially if you remove the front screens . The only thing they are missing is some rubber mounts on the base to isolate the vibrations ( I fixed that ) ; you can't get a better set of bookshelf speakers for $60.00 + shipping & handling . I'm very pleased with them . My other set of speakers are the $ 750.00 Onkyo D-415 so I'm used to good quality sound and these ones are perfect . like I said , I'm happy with them .Read full review

Very good quality sound
My friend gave me a bunch of free speakers, and the one that stood out was this same model of Sony speaker. Very satisfied with the quality for what my expectations were going into it. Performs very well as a satellite speaker. Read full review
