Sony STR-DN1080 7.2 Channel 165 Watt Receiver

A big improvement over earlier models

This was a good buy. I've been using an earlier version of Sony Amp for 20 years and decided to replace it . What a good move !.

I use a 5.1 set of Bose Speakers with Sub Woofer and it took minutes to connect them up. The automatic setup detected that I'd connected two of the speakers incorrectly and once that was sorted out it adjusted everything for my listening room and it certainly made a difference. It's difficult to believe that an amplifier can sound so different. Speech is very clear, especially when the front speaker kicks in and music sounds so much more natural. Films are definitely better, the surround sound is much more effective than with the previous amplifier.

The bonus things for me is that I can now stream audio from my NAS drive via my wifi, no extra cables. I can play mp3's from a USB drive plugged in the front and play stuff from my phone via Bluetooth. All in all a good buy - very happy.Read full review
