Good Tubes

Sounds as good or better than Mesa branded tubes that I was comparing them too.
Amplifier is Meas Boogie Express 2:25 Plus. This amp has a fixed bias (set at a medium range, so make sure you tell your tube supplier that you want at least a medium bias tube. That being said most guitar amps (including this one) that use EL84s run the bias current to the max, So a heavy duty high bias version would be even better.Read full review

Best el84 quad for the money...

I've heard a lot of people say that these sovtek el84s are underwhelming. I beg to differ. I have them in a restored Magnavox 9300 Amp modified to David Gillespie's design and they sound at least as good if not better than anything I've ever heard. The sound is stunning. I'm not some self proclaimed tube audiophile whatever but after hearing these tubes go, I'm hard pressed to believe something 5x more expensive is really 5x as good. They sound slightly better than the unmatched Mullard tubes that I received with the Amp. Take that as you may. They were easy to bias and the sound is clean and sharp with a sound stage I didn't think possible from my midrange Sony speakers.Read full review

Bigger Headroom than standard EL84

Interesting thing about these tubes is that I don't believe (In my amp) they are making any more watts in power than the standard EL84, but the Dynamic range (Headroom) with these tubes is considerably larger ! Perhaps it's just in my amp circuit, but either way I will take it !!!

Sovtek el84

Picked these up to freshen up my amp. It has been suggested to me to replace these tubes on occasion, as these power tubes are small and take a beating from heat. Did notice an improvement in clarity. First time I’ve used Sovtek’s in this amp - So far so good.Read full review

Good vale, good sound, not sure on longevity.

Sounded better than most, not sure how long they will last. Were close enough to Gold Lions that I couldn't tell, nearly sounded like vintage amperex, would say in the same ballpark. Better than Tung-Sol remakes and way cheaper so I say go with it.Read full review

Powerful tubes indeed and sounded like Goldlion el84 tubes

6BQ5/el84 pair by Sovtek they are in a fixed bias Rebel 20 amp.
After bias the pair my room mates went out so I cut it up whoa !
20 watts got so loud I felt the speaker hitting me with air burst , but I had not cut it up past 5 yet ?
That amp gain was way up so I was well past the sweet spot !

Those tubes sound like the EL84 goldlion pair I just took out to save ,those things cost $$
I ask for a high plate current pair of tubes . he sent strong 44millamp matched pair.
If the tubes only take 28milliamp on the plates I can red plate the tubes in a voltage runaway condition and ruins that tube when it is all a red glow .

Nothing wrong with the sound and there tough enough for a Fender Blues Jr combo.
No words describe how loud it was , the note attack was jumbo and I was not playing guitar I was now playing amp lol !Read full review
