Great Tape Measure

I purchased because of the reputation of Stanley tools, also being made in the USA. I like that they`re one of the few brands out there that still incorporate the increments on either side of the tape. Don`t need those large markings that indicate in written fractions what they are. This one also gives you increments down to 1/16th of an inch, both sides as well. One thing I didn`t like is that when I went to lock it, had to use both thumbs and push very hard for it to fully engage into the lock mode. I had then found an article of review`s on this tape measure and that this is normal when it`s new and over time and use, will become easier to push and lock using just one thumb. Read full review

I don't like the thinner blade.

The new Stanley FatMax tape measures are definitely not as good as they used to be. The blade is a lot thinner and flimsier and doesn't even get close to the 14 foot stand out that the packaging implies.Read full review

30 foot fatmax tape measure

for someone needing a longer than average tape measure, this will get the job done, however the tape tends to curl at lengths more than a few feet, making it difficult to take longer measurements.

Great Tape for the Price!

Stanly Fatmax is the tape I use all the time.

-It is stiff with a 11' standout extention before flapping down
-Coated with Mylar/Blade Armor to increase protection
-Retracts Nicely
-30' is a nice compromise for a 35' and works as a good all around tape measure
-Hooks on both sidews
-Good locking mechanism
-Belt clip is solid
-Survives drops
-Wide tape makes it easier to read the numbers

The only complaints I would have are:

-There are no scales on the backside
-The new design of the black part is slipperier than the original. While it may be more durable and will prevent peeling, it is just slick for me since I sweat a lot and have clamy hands.

Able to reach out and touch something

Just what I needed. It has a wider tape so it doesn't bend when I'm trying to measure something in any length. Stanley makes good tools and I didn't have any hesitation when I saw the brand.

Cheap Defective Tool

I was really disappointed with these tapes. They are not the usual fatMax tapes; these have a flatter rule than the normal ones and do not have 11' stand out. Measuring straight up is almost impossible as it will curl over backwards. Definitely not worth the money even though they were half price of those at the local hardware store.Read full review

New Fatmax Tapes

I have allways liked the Fatmax tapes however, the newest version has thinner blades and they don't hold up as well. Unfortunatly, they are still the best one avail.

Ok but not the best

It is easy to read but the locking button is too stuff and hard to push. Hard to get it to stay out. We think it is faulty lock.
