The nitty, gritty details of the Enterprise!

This book is about the closest you will get to the Enterprise short of visiting the sets! This excellent book explains in great "scientific" detail all of the Enterprise's systems from well-known systems like the warp drive system and weapon systems to lesser known systems such as the lifeboats and shuttlecrafts. It even covers "mundane" systems like fire suppression and waste management systems. You will get a full tour of every major and minor system on every deck of the ship. This book is not limited to just systems -- it also covers instruments like PADDs, tricorders, phasers, communicators, and more. In addition, there are explanations of Starfleet and Starship protocols and emergency procedures like saucer separation. This book goes into amazing detail and by the time you're done reading the "Star Trek Next Generation Technical Manual" you will (almost! ) be ready to take the Conn of the real thing! A perfect 5/5!!!Read full review...

No hype. Exactly as it says, no more, no less.

I have been a long time Star Trek fan. While I am not trying to be an Engineer, this volume is a great tool for fans trying to understand the inner workings of the Enterprise and how things function in this incarnation of the Star Trek universe, known as ST:TNG, or ‘Next Gen’.
Because of the expertise of Mr. Sternbach and Mr. Okuda, fans can be assured that the volume is accurate, but definitely not boring!

Gene Roddenberry

So much of Star term, which originated in the mid 1960 has become part of our society and world today. Early versions of iPads, cell phones etc., can be seen throughout the series. In this book you are presented with technical retailers of how many of these items work. A true treasure trove of information for any Trekker fan. Highly recommend.Read full review...

Don't hesitate.

Spent less than 5 bucks to get this little bit of childhood nostalgia. The description called it "acceptable" condition; this is nearly new. And DID I MENTION--- it got here about a week prior than anticipated.Read full review...

Very dry, but very informative

This is written like a schematic, no fluff, no "fun parts", just straight information about every little aspect of the starship Enterprise nc 1701 d. If you are a writer, a fan of the show, or a sci Fi nerd, you'll appreciate this immensely.Read full review...

Ahead warp factor 9!

For those you that not only like Star Trek The Next Generation but love the vechiles and equipment shown, then this technical manual is a must have. Not only do you learn about the history of the Galaxy class starship -in particular the Enterprise- but you are also shown the inner workings of the technologies aboard (phaser arrays, photon torpedoes, holodecks, etc).

Overall, this manual is an enjoyable read and after reading it, I felt like I could tear down a warp drive and rebuild it!

The book for would-be engineers!!!

If you are hardcore Trekkie like myself, this book is for you. It goes into great detail on everything from Matter/Antimatter reaction, to how the "toilets" work. Although I will admit, this book is NOT for the casual Star Trek fan. You MUST have a passion for Star Trek to read this book. But if you have it, this is a MUST read!!! (BE WARNED: no plot, reads like directions to hook up surround sound system)Read full review...
