Quite entertaining

sn early Steven King novellet transfered to film, some of the special effects are showing their age but the film is still quite entertaining.

A must watch

The CGI is a bit dated, but it is a superb film with a fabulous 90s feel.

The Langoliers DVD

A few years ago I saw the start of this film on TV in a hotel abroad. The broadcast stopped after the plot was established and I always wondered what happened. I didn't even know the film title as it didn't get reviews in the UK as far as I can remember. Anyway, I finally found a web site that helped me to identify the film and I bought a copy through eBay.

The film is about a group of airline passengers who wake up to find most of the plane is empty in mid flight. Unlike most of the airline disaster movies there is very little attempt to provide background on the characters and what we know about them emerges as the film progresses - as would happen in a real situation. There are tensions between the passengers as they attempt to identify their predicament and get out of it.

The film is largely science fiction and good fun to watch even though some of the science is inconsistent in its application. The viewer will become involved in the situation and identify both positively and negatively with the different characters that emerge.

There is a happy outcome at the end as most of the passengers successfully extricate themselves from the threat of the Langoliers. It was certainly worth the few pounds I spent on the DVD.
