Stigmata (1999) - One of Patricia Arquette's Best Roles

Patricia Arquette, current television star of the hit series "Medium," co-stars in this spiritually dramatic mystery, based on Christian beliefs, with Gaberial Burn. The storyline is based on spiritual/religious occurrence of Stigmata (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stigmata for more details).

The on-screen chemistry between Gaberial Burn (a Vatican Miracle Investigator) and Patricia Arquette (the Stigmatic) is captivating, to say the least. Plus, it is wonderful to see a movie with on-screen chemistry that is not driven by sex.

This movie is for mature audiences that are fascinated with religious, supernatural, or spiritually dramatic/mysterious adventures... the underline message (good over evil) is enlightening for those that can see it.

Warnings:
Many of the scenes are graphic, as related to the occurrence of the 5 types of Stigmata, and may be considered as being horrific.

Stigmata and the missing gospel of St. Thomas.

This is my kind of movie because it deals with some pretty deep subjects and along the way make you think about the use of control that many organized religions use to keep things from straying away from thier dogma. Governments also use these tactics but to a different degree and measure. The core of the movie centers around a document called, the missing gospel of St. Thomas. In it are some references to the kingdom of god is in everything and in everyone. So whats the big deal there? We all knew that anyway right? Well the protagonist Bishop character does not like that idea to become popular because he looks at as losing his "middle man" status. In other words, why go to a minister or priest when you can go directly to the source when you are in need. Good performances all around. Great movie

I love this movie, it's been one of my favorites from this genre for a long time, and Patricia Arquett is so hot in it. It's a definite watch for anyone who likes supernatural thrillers/horror movies.

Suspenseful, thrilling and thought-provoking film

I enjoy this film. It doesn't necessarily fall into the 'Horror' film category, but it is a suspenseful film with occasional violence, profanity and modest nudity, which explains its R rating. The script is well-written and the plot is thought-provoking.
