Timeless performances and production from a truly creative era. Had we more original bands like this today perhaps the world would be better.
Truly psychedelic, a formative band at one of their peaks, amping up a folk ethos with brilliant vocals and guitar work. Marty Balin deserved more recognition than he got. Disc has extra tracks, not up to the rest of the album (some earlier outtakes or mono versions), but worth having anyway.Read full review

CDs do sound different; the Deutsch (German) pressing of Surrealistic Pillow
I've had several copies of Surrealistic Pillow, and this one copy, sonically, is one of the best in my opinion. It is the German (DE) pressing and sounds as good as the Japan pressing which is also hard to find. The remasters seem louder and not as detailed, and the Grunt labeled ones just sound sharp to my ears- not detailed, just sharp and or bright. They are tiring to listen to.
So, if you love this Jefferson Airplane release, which I think is their best
album, on CD, I recommend this Deutsch (German) DE pressing. Read full review
