Reasonably priced, Sturdy, Well Built Press

Spent a good amount of time searching for a good press, I didn't want anything to cheap that would breaking straight away but also didn't want to pay a few hundred pounds for a press to only be used occasionally.

This press was perfect, price was reasonable for a claimed 12 tonne press. Arrived in 2x boxes, nothing was missing. It was very easy to put together and took less than 45mins. I had to file 2 holes bigger for the brace bars on the feet as they never lined up correctly but this was no issue to me considering i was concerned none of the holes would line up.

Once built i got straight into using it to press out some bearings, and it worked perfectly. Press plates are good and thick about 1 inch, press bed is adjustable, doesn't take up much room in my garage. All in all I'm happy and would recommend this to any home mechanic.

Very im-press-ive for the money!

Decent enough bit for kit for the money, really this should pay for itself after only a few uses.
Smaller than I imagined it would be from the pictures but seems well up to the job.
As most people, like me, will only use this very occasionally it seems daft to pay 4 times the price for a high quality branded press.
I did need to adjust the guides on the sliding part to make it a better fit on the frame and reduce the amount of side-to-side play - not essential but makes it nicer to use.
The only part that is likely to wear is the jack itself, which is a separate item and could easily be replaced if necessary.
All in all I am very pleased with my purchase.

Decent cheap press for medium duty standard tasks.

I bought the press as It was the cheapest on E-bay. I fully expected to have to modify the frame to do the job I wanted it for, as it happens I didn't need to. However I did push it to the very top end of its capabilities.

My requirement for the press was to push some steel bushes from aluminium suspension components on a Foden lorry. I made myself a C section plate with a hole in it for the redundant pin & bush to push through. A bit of heat on the housing as the pressure was applied made easy work of the bush removal.

Whilst the housing was warm I pressed in the new bush which had been chilling in the freezer.

For occasional use, car front wheel bearings, bushings, pulleys, removing gears etc its ideal. Mine will get modified over the years and the jack uprated when this one fails, but its decent for what it is.

Good quality for the price, ,ok for the average job

A good product for the price, more aimed at the DIY , small workshop , could do with some minor improvements, ie could be taller, bottom of ram located better, etc
It has been used to remove a very stubborn wheel bearing and proved more than adequate.
Plus side its quite compact so easy to store until needed.

Quite good quality workshop press for the price.

Pretty good press for the price. Steel thicknesses good. The bolts are a bit cheap looking and are only 4.8 grade. I may replace some of them later on with decent 8.8 bolts. It all bolted together alright but the top two 12mm holes on one of the uprights were 5mm too low compared with the other. I had to elongate the holes so the horizontal top box section was level and the distances correct to the bed platform. I have bolted the base of the jack to the moving slide plate to stop it moving all over the place when in use. I also made a sleeve to fit inside the location for the ram on the top box section to make that a better fit. It now works with a bit more precision. Well worth the money, and the basis of a good workshop press.Read full review...

value for money

Product is very good for the price. It is easy to assemble only issue is on flat plate too thick weld which had to be ground down to allow jack to sit flat and stable.

Instructions Poor

To start with you open the box and are presented with a load of solid looking parts, Great!!

To think the pressures involved in this tool could literally kill you, it pretty poor there are no clear build instructions, which in my eyes rules out any CE approved reassurances.

Basically you given a picture to build your unit, I assume if you build it wrong, it's your fault.

Anyway I built to my interpretation of the picture and it appeared to be sturdy, however in real use there is a potential dangerous fault.

This is it is possible to get the legs the wrong way round if your not careful (I did this) this causes the bottom bar to fall off when moving your projects around.

My advise would be is to get a tape measure on the top and bottom parts and ensure the gap is the same.

Anyone once I fixed my school boy error the product is excellent, and works effortlessly.

Added picture is my unit built incorrectly, you may notice the legs are different way round

Did the job cheaply and easily, I wish I had one before

Put it together this morning. assembled my series front land rover halfshaft in the tool and within 5 minutes the replacement bearing and retaining collar were tight on the unit.
I made a tool to assist the job by cutting through the old bearing and fitting that and the old collar on to act as distance pieces. Two tie wraps held the baseplates together.
Cheaper than getting it done outside and I now also have a really food press.

Cost effective for home use

If you have a job which needs a 12 tonne press then there are many options, all of which are substantially more expensive than this version. It was easy to build, has a low foot print and very easy to operate.Read full review...
