Easy web page based setup once you have connected it to your router. Regular updates seem to occur with its operating system.
The fan can be set to 3 different speeds, on the quietest setting it is whisper quiet & keeps the internals cool even under hard use.
Spins the drive down and goes into standby after 20 mins or so of no activity.
has soft rubber feet to absorb any drive noise.

OK as a NAS but that's about all.

OK if you are buying to simply use as a NAS but forget trying to run apps on it. Its painfully slow at running most of the preinstalled apps. Trying to run something like Plex server (which was one of the reasons that I bought it for) is a total no-go, the processor is just not up to it. Even trying to do anything on the DSM web interface is a pain as you have to wait several seconds (sometimes minutes)for a response when you click on anything.Read full review...
