Tascam DR-40. Ideal for making movies.

Audio performance is excellent, very low noise (several dB more sensitive than my bare ears!) if you're not actually handling it, and it has a flat frequency response giving good HiFi results with the internal mics at both bass and top ends for music.
Good battery life when using internal mics but they won't last long when it's powering 48v capacitor mics so an external PSU input is then needed. For recording movies, in conjunction with a video camera, the time stamp on the files should allow sync to 1 second. Camera time stamps are usually less precise so clapper boards are still useful.

As described - faulty but now fixed.

Description was that item was faulty. Once the faults were found and fixed - firmware update and tactile switch stuck in on position was replaced then unit worked as manufacturer intended. Well worth the money for a very good item and the fun of fixing and bringing unit back to life,Read full review

Tascam dr40

Tascam dr40 is great, my first thought was to go for a D60 and fasten it to my dslr but then I would need to but some mics. I opted for the dr40 as it has the built in mics but the option to add some better mics in the near future.Read full review
