Great CD recorder at Good Price

After a lot of online research, including pro and customer reviews, I chose this Teac CD recorder, and so far it has worked fine and produced better-than-expected audio quality on the recordable CDs of the vinyl records I've been saving to disc. I'm still trying to figure out why it sometimes skips (leaves empty) track numbers on the recordable CDs, which occasionally happens when I pause the recording mode to change records or skip over songs and then resume the recording process...but I'm virtually certain this glitch is a result of my own failure to fully understand and properly apply the "Pause Recording" and "Synchronous Recording" features/instructions. So if I had to include one complaint in this review, it'd be that the owner's manual could have provided a more easily understood explanation of these features...for "user idiots" like me! Overall, though, the deck appears to be solidly constructed, with very intuitive feature buttons on the face (as opposed to the modern-day and aggravating/confusing drop-down "Menu" approach) - I especially appreciate the simple one-button command needed to "finalize" recorded CDs - and it has been producing well-modulated and highly dynamic audio reproductions of my old 33RPM albums, which until now haven't previously been played for at least the past 25 years! Now I'm recording only the most desirable songs - mixed how I want them - from each of these albums onto the more flexible CD format at the nominal cost of about 30-cents per customized music CD! Over a relatively short period of time, this Teac CD recorder will have paid for itself, and then some!Read full review

Not User Friendly for Professionals

#1- Must use their preset increment buttons of input signal change (up or down). No Dial Control for fine tuning. The reference Volume also goes up and down with the operation of the input level buttons. Confusing and Unnecessary. #2- After each recording, the previous level used is not remembered. Resets to zero Everytime. **Have plenty of time to get your projects done.Read full review

Replacing my Phillips recorder

Easy product to use,,,just read the instructions booklet. You might have to try different brands of blank CD's but I found that Maxell worked just fine. Currently recording CD's from my vast vinyl and cassette collection. I could almost make it a business it's so easy to do!Read full review

Seems to be what I was looking for

I've only had my recorder for about two weeks now. So this review is tentative.

I just finished recording a mix of 12 tracks. They sound great. I accidentally added an extra track but I guess that won't matter. It takes a bit of practice to learn how to use this device and I wish the instruction were a bit clearer. It took me a while to figure out the difference between synchronized recording and regular recording and the instruction booklet doesn't provide much explanation on this point. Also I've accidentally ruined about a half dozen blank CDs. But at least blank CDs are cheap.

The CDs that I've made so far are nice quality and I'm satisfied with them. I have a high quality stereo setup and the CDs I've made sound to my ear like professional quality.

I've only recorded so far with Maxwell brand "CD-R" cds (honestly, I'm not trying to plug Maxwell) so I don't know how the recording would come out with other brand CDs or with CD-RW cd's. Also I had to buy a cheap patch cord and some cheap splitter connections to go from my computer to the recorder. One other minor issue is that the ear phone plug needs a size adapter to fit the standard mini- plugs on most ear phones. I had an ear phone adapter that I wasn't using so it was no problem for me but an adapter should have come with the recorder.

I guess I would recommend this unit, but be prepared for a learning curve and be prepared to wreck some blank CDs.

Great product

I have an old Teac dual tray CD recorder which I used a lot. It was starting to not accept several types of discs, so I felt it was time for a new unit and so far, no issues. I still have many cassette tapes and albums which I want to save on CD, so this works well for me.Read full review
