Performance on ring mains

As described its a small neat power line and easy to setup.

Some Facts from my experience in a New Build property of approx 1050 sq ft floor area. These New Builds have 2 socket ring mains split across both floors ( some up and some downstairs per ring main).

At my router I get my contract 74mbps, With my master TP-Link plugged into the same socket ( downstairs) as the router and then connected to the router I can measure 74mbps on the TP-Link second network outlet.

Can easily pair both the new nano power lines via a nearby socket and using the pair button functions, thus the nanos have the same network name and password.

At the adjacent socket I can measure some 50mbps at the nano, happy with that.
Then when moving the nano to the location I wanted to use one of these, I measured between 5 and 10 mbps 😤.
Moved upstairs to Second Location and measured upto 50mbps again.

After trying a few sockets around the house, is when the penny dropped about the 2 socket ring mains and then realised after a few more checks the sockets measuring 5 to 10 mbps where on a different ring main to the one my router and master TP Link are plugged into.

So my conclusion is these or any other Powerline Adapters DO NOT preform as well when you rely on the signal crossing over ring mains at the consumer unit, via probably 2 MCB,s in the circuit as well.

Thankfully for myself I had a socket approx 4.5 mtrs away from where I needed the nano poweline and with a 5 mtr network cable run still getting near 50mbps so happy with end result.

Total rubbish

Drops out all the time. Never stays paired. Tried it in various rooms, close & far. Total waste of money. When it is paired it works well..so it does work, just not consistently & I have to turn it off & on again to get it to work again.. for all of 10 minutes maybe. May as well have plugged the £25 into the socket, it would probably work just as well.Read full review...

TP-LINK AV500 WiFi & LAN Extender

Very impressed with the improvement of WiFi around the house, and has the option to plug in an ethernet cable for non-wifi devices.
Very easy to setup and replicate the wireless settings by just pressing WPS router button, then the WiFi button in the unit.
No downsides.

Cheap way of extending network, but check the documentation first!

Bought as an add-on to existing network for a device with no WiFi. Bit tricky to set up first time (next time read the instructions!) and disappointed Ethernet port is restricted to 100 Mbps (next time read the specification!) but a great way of extending a network at a bargain price.Read full review...

As it says on the box!

Bought this for our village Day Centre to allow the computer to pick up the internet...the modem and the computer in question are in opposite corners of the main hall which is large and L shaped...the Tp Link was very simple to pair...in fact I did it using both supplied parts in the same double wall socket and then just plugged them in ...one by the modem and one by the computer....instant internet access as if the modem is connected directly to the computer...some members have said that they can now access Wi-Fi all around the hall where before installing the Tp Link it was only accessible at one end.
Very easy to install and use...took less than five minutes in total.

Easy to use and very fast!

To set up these powerline extenders, all I had to do was plug them in to my house wall outlet, make sure they where paired, and plugged one of them within 300 metres of the other into my computer and the other into my internet router. I tested the products and the speed was more than 10 times faster than the Edimax wifi extenders I was using that were constantly dropping out. Amazing, simple to use, great value product!Read full review...

Simple and effective

This kit is simple to install and set up. Plug it in, connect an ethernet cable at each end and push a button on each. I think it was up and running in about 2 mins.
Having moved ISP I found the new router didnt have a reliable WIFI signal. (old house - thick walls) A colleague recomended this kit and it works a treat. Even if you move round the house you just plug into the nearest socket and you're away.
This little kit is innexpensive and effective- connection speed better that ever achieved via WIFI. I suspect I will expand it in due course- you just add more units.

Amazing TP-Link AV600 Powerline Kit

Our house has highly efficient wall insulation with foil backing that interferes with WiFi distribution. One room in particular was my son's room and his online gaming was being spoiled by unreliable WiFi. The answer has turned out to be the installation of the TP-Link AV600 Powerline Kit. My son's Internet connection is now the fastest and most reliable in the house!Read full review...

Simple way to extend network at home

I've bought this product to extend home network to the room in the attic where Wifi was slow.
It is very easy to setup, just plug into electrical sockets and it works. Their speed does depend on electrical wiring around home and distance. I've measured their bandwidth using Iperf3 tool and was able to get 75-85Mbits in the next room, and 42-50Mbits at rooms further apart. These are average broadband connections speeds, so these devices have enough bandwidth for HD video streaming or video conferencing.
There is a utility software available which allows further setup and it reports connection speed. I've found that reported speed is doubled, it seems to be adding transmit and receive rates which is odd.
Overall I think think these powerline adapters are a good value, although if you are thinking of adding more than 2 adapters it might be better to look at faster av1000 or av2000 models.

would recommend buying as it worked much better for my TV than a wi-fi dongle. which did not even pick up my signal.

easy to set up, no major problems, just have to try a few times and be sure all connections are in place within 1 minute of clicking into position despite knowing that the units are far apart in distance. When all 3 lights are on in both units means success.Read full review...

Very good value.

Very good, I have one downstairs plugged into my router and the other upstairs plugged into my PC. they were easy to setup just plug and play. They work fine on my fast broadband connection, I had forgotten I had them until I was asked to type this review.
The price was really good they are very good quality for the money. I am glad I purchased them and can recommend them. And I forgot to mention you also get 2 connection leads with them to connect to your router and PC.
