Best budget WiFi Extender Powerline I've seen

Can be paired with any other powerline adaptor and is very straightforward to do. It's also very easy to clone your existing WiFi connection. You can be up and running in a few seconds but if you wanna use it as a separate "guest" WiFi then you can download the TP-Link utility for setting up a custom WiFi network. On top of that it has 2 Ethernet ports which is better than most other adaptors out there.Read full review...

Expensive with poor performance

The Extender is expensive. Since purchase I have found the kit (extender plus base unit) on sale in the WH Smith for the same price as an extender! The only consolation is that I have no use for additional base units.

Performance in terms of transmitting the broadband signal around the ring mains is excellent.
However, the wi-fi signal seems to be degraded, not sure why. E.g. I get 35Mbps from router but only 18Mbps from extenders.

Set up is easy if you just want plug and play, a little more challenging to clone the router details as I could not get the WPS button technique to work.

Tp link Av600 set works a treat through solid walls!

The units were so easy to set up and link to my router, this is an older router and could do with replacement really, also our home has thick granite walls so signal through the house is bad. I then plugged the second wifi unit in another room upstairs (usually terrible for signal) and once connected to my phone or PC worked incredibly well, very fast speeds at last! Even works on extension cables despite advised not to. Just have to ensure you are on the same circuit in the house. Much better and more reliable method through the powerline than the wireless types I've tried already, which just piggybacks a poor signal?
It works a treat for me! Happy

TL-WPA4220 Good Powerline Wifi Extender

In general this is a great little network extender increasing network coverage around the home. Setup Instructions could be made even simpler. However once connected to the home network it's just a matter of using your computers Web browser to log into the devices interface and renaming the Wireless name to match the routers. It then works seamlessly as one visible network. Setting the beacon level at a slower/longer rate should help mobile devices extend battery life.Read full review...

Best wi fi extender I have tried.

I have tried a few Wi-Fi TP link extenders and this version works very well. I purchased one for my garden workshop and the signal is spot on. Unlike some boosters that need to be strategically placed so that they pick up the signal from your router and then send the signal to you appliance this model sends the signal down the power line of your electrical system to your booster. If you need to connect via a LAN cable there is a socket included on the underside. The only downside is that every now and then the Extender box stops sending a signal so you have to power off and then back on again. No idea why it does that but it’s better than an alternative product that doesn’t work that well. Very easy to set up and very easy to add more extenders. Well worth shopping around because can be quite expensive. Read full review...

Got Weak WiFi? Easy, Secure Solution

We now have an old Victorian house with solid, rather than stud walls, and just couldn't get decent WiFi signal from the router in the office to our living room. I did try force changing channels on router, and then a couple of WiFi boosters / extenders, but they were only vaguely successful, they had to be placed in such a way as they could pick up the router signal, but also close enough enough to the living room (because of the solid walls) to provide a signal. I did then consider using Ethernet cable, but the cable route would be problematic. So, I then discovered this TP-Link plug-in WiFi extender, which makes use of your home's existing power cable network, and after reading a couple of reviews thought I'd give it a try, even though the sockets are on separate rings. It worked like a charm, and provides a full WiFi signal. Setup is easy, you initially 'pair' the transmitter & receiver, and then hook up the transmitter to your router with the supplied Ethernet cable, and the receiver in your desired location. The TP-Link can either use WPS, which will take on the router SSID, providing seamless transition, or you can use the TP-Link's own SSID, if you'd rather, as I did, keep them separate. My phone has the details for both, so simply switches WiFi networks as I move around the house. You can also login into the TP-Link unit via your browser & assign a different SSID if required, in the same way as you can on a router. As a bonus, the receiver also provides Ethernet connectivity, perfect for connecting my CCTV system. You can buy additional receivers if you've got other WiFi problem areas within your home.
The package contains everything you need, and the units seem well made, as you'd expect from what is a respected brand within this field, and overall, excellent value for money. It provides a perfect working solution, which is also a lot neater, as no separate power adapters & leads, the unit is the power adapter.
Just bear in mind, they are designed to work with sockets on the same ring, or radial arm (Same fused power circuit from your consumer unit) and some people have had issues when plugged into multiway trailing socket adapters. I had to do so, but fortunately, it all works fine.
I just wish I'd tried these in the first place!

Easy addition to Powerline range extending!

Very easy to set up. I bought this to extend some existing power line adaptors that I had so that I could achieve wifi in my garage for my forthcoming Tesla in the easiest and most convenient way possible. I had two options, either to put this in the same ring main as the other adapters in the room nearest the garage or a not recommended option of putting this in the garage itself which is on a different circuit from the consumer unit. I chose the latter and even though not recommended it still seems to work well and has easily achieved what I set out to do.Read full review...

Works well once better installation info is obtained from Utube tuitorials.

It does what I hoped for - - but installation info could be better - - needs to be written so an inexperienced idiot can understand. - - had to dial up Utube to get tuitions on how to install.
Had to reset extender from initial attempt to set it up .
Now working ok - - and does what I had hoped for - - have recommended to my daughter as I can now talk her through my experience.
And just to prove my point - my other daughter could not figure it out but she had a boyfriend who is a software engineer - he hit the same problem I met but he got access to the internet somehow.
However she has to select the extender ssip on her laptop. so when a software engineer cant get it working properly what chance does the ordenary punter have a chance.
I now have my set network address working site wide, with network name and password on the extender , the same as my router. suggest you reccommend Utube tutorials to buyers.
