Brought batteries from my recycle bin back to life. I should have bought this sooner.

I am very pleased with this charger so far. It does what I need. I had been struggling with a "dumb" charger that only charged in pairs; it was telling me that batteries were "Bad" and refused to charge but I could not easily tell which ones nor how "bad". This Technoline is great. I've even taken around 8 batteries back out of my tub for recycling and brought them back to life. I really love that I can charge singly, set the charge rate, and know exactly how well (current draw) it is charging and discharging. I love the option to "Charge Refresh" (useful for reviving old batteries) and then "Charge Test" to understand what the actual capacity is. My only real problem with the unit is that I now regret not buying it sooner - thinking of all the time wasted with my old charger trying to charge stubborn batteries. I've recommended it to my Dad. It is now on his Christmas list.Read full review...

Good bit of kit

Got this for my sons xbox 1 controller as it eats batteries. Now he always has a set charged (takes 2 AA'S btw) only thing to note is the box says the buttons are soft touch when they are not. It seems this is branded different names from different suppliers but it's the same unit inside. Overall a good buy tho the settings can become abit hard to understand but if you study the instructions it should be easy to use, it does work straight out the box which is good but if you just want to charge batteries with it I would suggest not pressing analysis of the buttons and just let it do its thing.Read full review...

Good well made intelligent charger.

So far I have only used the charger on its default settings. Basically you insert the batteries, switch it on and it charges the batteries at 200mA until they are charged. It charges the batteries individually and determines when each battery is fully charged. I have charged both aa and aaa batteries. It will charge between one and four batteries at a time.

It seems well made.

I have not yet used the advanced features such as
1. discharge then recharge
2. Refresh which keeps discharging and recharging until no improvement in capacity.
3. Different charge rates to reduce the time of charge.

Apparently it will charge a completely flat battery which some intelligent chargers will not do.

So far I am pleased with it. It is easy just to insert the batteries and not have to worry if the battery is already fully charged and I am overcharging it. Discharge recharge cycle should be good to avoid memory effect.

Beware Battery Geekiness!

Be warned this little charger might make you a bit 'geeky' about rechargeable batteries once you've read the manual and fiddled with all the buttons! Lots of useful settings - and the fully discharge function has revived many of my really quite old Eneloops.Read full review...

Only wished I had bought this charger a lot earlier - would have saved money.

This charger is loads better than the Energizer one I was using before I bought this Technoline BL700N.
The Enegizer would just light up green telling me the batteries had charged OK, but they would run out of power quickly - the same batteries charged with this BL700N last a lot longer.
The discharge/recharge function is handy and especially the refresh mode which bought back batteries to life that my Energizer charger would refuse to charge with a loud bleep!

New Technoline Battery Charger

I had some rechargeable batteries that would not charge on my previous charger that was not very old. I put them in the Technoline and they charged up perfectly. Another good point with the Technoline is you can charge up an odd amount or if necessary only one battery.Read full review...

Best battery charger I have owned to date

Having owned a whole variety of battery chargers over the years, some quite expensive, this is the best one to date.

I have two of the earlier model, the BL700, and two of this model, the BL700N. I've just been forced to buy my second BL700N, because one of my BL700's failed. The fact that it failed is a black mark. I don't know whether that was due to component failure, or a mains power surge though, so I'll let that one pass.

I make use of these a lot. The only problem I encounter is that sometimes a battery cell "sticks" on recharge. I always use the Discharge/Recharge function to drain any remaining energy from the cells before fully recharging them. This keeps them in good working condition. Sometimes though, a cell sticks during recharging, and won't rise above 1.18V. Discharging the cell after this shows it had almost zero stored charge. After that, it typically needs the "Refesh" cycle to bring it back into working order. This can take days, but does successfully restore the cell. This is why you might need more than one of these chargers!

I don't know whether this problem is due to the charger, or is just a characteristic of NiMH cells. Who knows? Anyway, it still does the job, and looking out for "stuck cells" on recharge is just something you have to get used to. It isn't always the same cells that stick; it appears to be random.

Other than that characteristic, it gets top marks for everything. It presents all the data you need about your batteries, without being over-complicated.

Great intelligent battery charger

I never knew how much there was to battery charging. I didn't know you could reduce the power output and lifespan by not charging them properly. This charger knows what to do and brings poor performing and sometimes dead rechargables back to life. It has all the settings for infinite manual fiddling. If you just want the best results, without messing about, it will do that automatically. Brilliant.Read full review...

Excellent charger, would thoroughly recommend.

I initially read reviews on many different chargers of similar price, and knew that some can have problems. I then bought two of these and am very pleased with their performance, so far. The units are well made and the batteries sit well. I have now charged several NimH batteries - at 200ma and everything barely gets warm. The charge time is a function of the charge rate and the battery capacity. I particularly like how securely it holds AAA sized batteries - no sliding contacts. The only problem with them is that you might become a bit of a geek and keep going back to check the displays whilst charging. But seriously, they are very nice chargers and I am pleased that I bought them.Read full review...

WELL DESIGNED QUALITY PRODUCT - RECOMMENDED

A fully comprehensive device designed to look after your rechargables.

It charges, rejuvenates and tells you the condition of your batteries in an easy-to-read display.

This is the 'original' charger for AA and AAA batteries - there are many copies of this device out there but they don't come close to the quality of Technoline. This is reflected in the price as the other inferior copies are cheaper. If you want reliability that works Technoline is the way to go.Read full review...
