Many features to aid shortwave listening
Pros:
Very attractive design with all the right buttons and tuning knobs in convenient locations - particularly for coarse and fine tuning.
Selectable filters for AM and SSB.
More than enough memories
Audio output is impressive - punchy and bassy.
Useful signal meter which also aids 'tuning in' a desired station
Cons:
No RDS in FM
Audio in SSB a bit too punchy, AGC ramped up too much - initial attack on transmission causes 'popping' noise but it's possible to cope with.
Still trying to assess if it outperforms the Sangean ATS-909X using an external antenna.Read full review

A great portable for the price.
I have not owned a portable shortwave receiver for quite some time. The last one I purchased was a Sangean ats-803, at the time it was a great radio and it was for the price.
The Tecsun PL 880 out preforms the ats-803 in many ways. The sound is great for such a small radio. Having selectable band width fantastic for a portable. It seems to do a nice job medium wave. Selectivity and sencitivty are much better than I expected for a portable. A great portable on it's own, and with the proper antenna, ( and perhaps a tuner ), a good DX base radio as well.Read full review

Tecsun PL-880 Multiband Radio.
I have 4 Tecsun Radios & are extremly happy with all. Build quality and features are all excellent, I would recommend them to anyone who wants a quality radio packed with features and all being equipped with a built-in charger is also a great bonus.
I can see that in the near future Tecsun could possibly bbe the only decent radio available, they're nearly thare now.
