Tek 2247A High performance 100MHz scope

the 2247A is the final stage in the analog 22xx series from Tek, and has a real direct reading 200Mhz counter tied to channel 1, along with a multi-mode DMM. In addition, it has 4 channels (2 with reduced controls), dual timebases, and my personal fave (taken from the Philips/Fluke combiscopes), AUTOSET. A very nice combination of powerful features. The downsides are these: very hard to work on power supply (sandwiched in the middle with a fault prone fan), and many flat cables that are easily damaged with bad handling. the unit cannot be run with the power supply accessible, making some work very hard. I also had some trouble with sticky buttons (rubbing on the front pane overlay), but that is fixable. If you can accept the increased service issues, it is a very powerful scope, without the many custom hybrids that haunt the 2400 series. oddly, the counter just has an ordinary crystal timebase, with a very coarse adjustment. I think it would have really benefitted from a simply TCXO for a few dollars more. thermal timebase drift is significant, and hard to adjust.

Comes on but nothing works!

The device comes on but nothing works. It does come on. Screen is bright. I had to do some work to it to get it to come on. So it is in not good working order! I am not sure what is required/ how much work involved to make everything start working, like it's supposed to?Read full review

It is good equipement

You must remember that this oscilloscope it has AUTO SETUP. If you have a low cost digital oscilloscope, and you want to see better the waveform, you must buy it, and compliment your digital oscilloscope. If you are a hobbyist of electronic, and doesn't need measures how Vrms, FFT or complex measures, for example power electronics, it is your oscilloscope. Tektronix makes excellent Oscilloscopes which seem to last forever. I have used their scopes for 50 years. Everything about this scope operates correctly. The scope has not been abused nor does it need any service. I will calibrate it myself.Read full review
