Tektronix 465B Analog Oscilloscope

Reliable old technology

I remember paying more than the cost of a nice car for one of these in the early 80's. We were really excited when it arrived and it was a workhorse for us for many years. Moving into management I didn't touch one for for the better part of 30 years and now that I'm retired I needed a scope for my radio and audio hobbies. I decided on something I had used before rather than the new stuff and I wasn't disappointed. The seller originally shipped the incorrect one (without the DM44 on top) but the exchanged it "no questions asked" and I had the correct one just s couple days after I shipped the old one out. It has a few warts..........the controls are a little noisy and it could use a good cleaning but everything works. For the $200.00 I paid it is an outstanding value. 100 MHz might be a little slow for some things these days but for audio and anything up to VHF bands in RF it's just fine.Read full review

TEK 465B

The Tektronix 465B oscilloscope is one of the most popular scopes ever made. It is rock solid and highly accurate. While it's 100MHZ bandwidth may seem a tad slow by today's standards, it was state of the art when introduced in the 1970's. (my 465B was built in 1980) These scopes are a great value for troubleshooting problems in vintage radio's, guitar amps and Hi Fi equipment. Good old-fashioned analog scope

The Tek465B scope is a 100MHz two-channel analog oscilloscope introduced in 1972. It is an iconic scope, and one that remains a useful instrument today providing you are willing to overlook the occasional scratchiness in a pot or stickiness in a button. The price is a fraction that of a new scope, and it is far more repairable. The fact that so many 465B's have survived 40+ years says the build quality was high. If you want a cheap old-style scope, the 465B is hard to beat.

Probably the nicest little analog scope you can buy.

A little higher frequency might have been better, some of the similar digital storage scopes go to 250Mhz but it was inexpensive, and nothing like a good analog scope. The intensity stays bright even at higher frequencies and the response is great. Perfect for me as a hobbyist and ham radio enthusiast. I need to fix the multimeter on top but I have the full schematics so that shouldn't be to difficult. Always nice to have an extra digital multimeter.Read full review

Mostly discreet analog ocilloscope
