C.S. Lewis sci fi space trilogy

This is one of his greatest writings, he had so many. This work is different from other science fiction. It deals with the struggle and consequences of the decisions we make in life and how they impact our future and the future of those around us. Includes universal themes similar to The Lord of the Rings: The only reason to attempt something is because it is the right thing to do, even when the odds are stacked against you and your cause seems hopeless. Also exposes the falacies of realitivism, when the end justifies the means. It is more important to risk everything on a personal level to ensure freedom and with it personal responsibility for everyone.

I purchased the books on eBay because these titles are almost impossible to find in new or used book stores. I have frequented our 2 local used bookstores for years and have only come across one title twice. So, if your a C.S. Lewis fan or are interested in reading this trilogy, eBay may be your only hope. Even though one set was 1986 it is still in very good condition and at reasonable price for such a rare find.
Happy Reading, a C.S. Lewis fan

Hurrah for Modern Fairy Tales

I must have read "That Hideous Strength" at least 20 times. The depth of character (and lack thereof) in many of the characters makes you re-evaluate whether you're really as clever and intellectually strong as you thought. The tiny decisions that blossom into lifetime commitments (and horrors) make you watch your words. The characters are so real that you want to invite them into your living room (or destroy them for their teeth-clenching evil).

I love the depictions of petty gossip and backstabbing politics of a modern University that's lost it's purpose of education. The marriage scenes are completely realistic, and revealing without being sordid. The small attacks of conscience that get lost within the struggle to live and achieve and attain a Position with fellow intellectuals and colleagues that Mark goes through....brilliant. The incredible evil of Fairy Hardcastle, the utter coldness and inhumanity of Frost, the pithy comments of Bill the Blizzard are not to be missed. And above all, the re-emergence of Merlin - dual-natured, powerful, utterly without the 20th Century squeamishness of waging fair war on your enemies. Every time that I re-read it, I want to walk in the woods and go strike a bureaucracy with lightning.

Last in the series.

I think C.S. Lewis was on some kind of drugs when he wrote this.

Great book

This is one of the greatest books ever written. Very few books stay with you like this does. George Orwell said this book was the greatest influence on his writing.
