Memories of a great star

This collection of DVDs is the ultimate for all those fans of Anna Neagle. The choice of films is somewhat eclectic but this does not detract from the pleasure. Hopefully another collection will eventually follow. Victoria The Great and Sixty Glorious Years are probably the films that Dame Anna is best remembered for together with The Lady With The Lamp. The other discs are Derby Day which has some comedy and pathos about it, I live in Grosvenor Square one of the morale boosting films that thrilled audiences in the dark days of war, and The Lady Is A Square. This latter was Dame Anna's fnal film and introduces a young Frankie Vaughan. It is a pleasing little film but nothing spectacular. It would be nice to see Nurse Edith Cavell, Piccadilly Incident, They Flew Alone, and the ever memorable Odette brought together in a second volume perhaps added to Spring in Park Lane and Maytime aIn Mayfair to add a little light relief.

In all this is a truly enthralling 'get away from it all' set.
