patricia cornwell - always a good riveting read - great value for the money

patricia cornwell ticks all the boxes for me with her great knowledge and stories, writing as a coroner discovering why people died usually in criminal circumstances. She gets very involved with the FBI and her people use state of the art technology which is outstanding. Her stories (possibly based on true accounts) unfold to a good climax as mostly her books do. Her books are always a good read if you're interested in criminal pathology and forensics and forensic psychology. These books can often keep you on the edge making you read on at all times.
I cant wait to get her next book and no doubt I will buy it on ebay. The best place to shop.

Takes too long to get going.

The book just takes too long to get going. It goes on and on and on and on about removing the body and is very repetitive. You'll want to slap Marino if he mentions "buttons" again. There's too much irrelevant information about trivial things. It states the obvious too much.
I gave up after a bit, but when my next audiobook was even worse, I went back to it. Once the body has been removed, it starts to expand the story.
Basically, two women are missing, one man's body has been found, and another woman's body has been found in the sea. Very very near the end of the book, these are all woven together.
Scarpetta is her usual self: meticulous, contradicts everything poor Marino says and ends up in dire straits. If I had to work with her, I'd leave.
You'll never guess whodunnit. I'm still wondering "why?" Perhaps my concentration slipped during "the reveal".
I don't understand why it was titled "The Bone Bed". This place - where paleantologists are excavating - is hardly mentioned at all. "What the Turtle Dragged Up" would have been more relevant.
All in all, the book's well-written, but takes too long to get started.
