Care Bears vs Axis of Evil

Checked this one out from the local library and now my son is hooked. I'd recommend checking it out from the library first before buying a copy. I have now watched this movie for a grand total of 10 times in 7 days. This I do not recommend. There is however, just something fascinating and mesmerizing about these angelic like care bears that use cloud forms of transportation to check in on and care for lonely, uncaring humans. Definitely watch this with the little one the first few times. A young magician named Nicholas is particularly disturbed as he falls victim to a demanding floating green head that appears out of a spell book. Ordered about by the now uncaring Nicholas, an evil spirit, in the form of a dark cloud attempts to bring two unsuspecting children (Kim and Jason) back to the green head to "teach them a lesson". Fortunately, the Care Bears, their allies, the Care Bear cousins and Kim and Jason join forces to bring Nicholas back to his senses and the world is happy and caring again.Read full review...

The Care Bears Movie

My two boys, ages 4 and 6 are mesmerized by this movie. We stumbled on it at the library and upon its return I began a quest to purchase the video or dvd for home. The plot involves a husband and wife who take care of many abandoned children; the story starts with the husband telling a sweet story to lull the children to sleep. He explains how while there is sadness in this world, there is also goodness and if you believe in this goodness it will change your life for the better. He has "care bears" for many qualities that children adore-- love (tenderheart bear), friendship bear, fortune (good luck bear) but don't also have. The story takes 3 children on an adventure which changes them and while there are a few scary parts, on the whole it is family friendly and entertaining and has very catchy music (which can stay in your head longer than you'd like but actually comes in handy to sing to and soothe a cranky child while stuck in a traffic jam!). I gave this an excellent rating.Read full review...

A Movie That Teaches Compassion and Caring

The Care Bears Movie was released in 1985 by the Samuel Goldwyn Mayer studios two years after Care Bears Plush and toys were released.

The Care Bears Movie grossed almost $23 million at the American box-office, making it the most successful animated production outside the Disney market at the time of its release.

It is also one of animation's most profitable releases ever given it only cost $3 million to make.

The music was provided by the well knowns artists Carole King and John Sebastian.

Was it a shameless attempt to sell Care Bears toy products? Of course!

But it also teaches children the value of caring and being compassionate in a fun and colorful way. Not only are more Care Bears introduced in this movie, but so are the Care Bear Cousins...the non-Bear characters from Te Forest of Feelings between here and Care-a-Lot where the Care Bears live.

The Care Bears and Cousins come to Earth to battle the Evil Spirit and make the world safe for good feelings again.

It is intended for the younger audience. Probably the 4-10 crowd would enjoy it the most. The animation is very sweet and was compared to the work of Disney at the time of the release. The music is spectacular and you will even hear some old friends like Mickey Rooney voicing some of the characters.

Watch it with your little ones and enjoy the simple sweet magic of it!

Brings back memories!

I was raised in the 80's with Rainbow Brite, She-Ra and, of course, the Care Bears. My 2 1/2 year old is just as enthusiastic as I was so, naturally, starting a new collection of movies was easy. It wasn't too hard to decide whether or not to add this movie to our collection. My daughter refers to this movie as "Kim and Jason" as she refers to Care Bears II: A New Generation as "John, Dawn, and Christie". A must have for Care Bears enthusiasts!Read full review...

I still love the Care Bears

While the Care Bears may not be the hippest show around they are still really cool to watch. Each show teaches chilldren different values and morals that are important and become more and more scarce in todays cartoons. Although I'm a little bias (my nursery was done in care bears with I was a baby) I would totally recommend this movie to anyone with small children. A++Read full review...
