Trumps of Doom by Roger Zelazny (1997)

Wow, where to begin? Zelazny is, in my opinion, one of the 4 Great Sci-Fi/Fantasy fore-fathers; Asimov, Heinlein, Tolkien, & Roger Z. This is the 1st book in the 5 book continuation of the Amber Story-line. The Son of the main Character in the 1st 5 book series is dealing with life, and those who try to prematurely end it for him. He is a cosmic level being (although young & somewhat inexperienced) bearing the title 'Lord of Chaos', and is about to embark upon an adventure that will take him from one end of the multi-verse to the other. Some say this series pales compared to the original 5, but I think they are written as they were ment to be. In the 1st person, and with details they recall, thusly, the millenium of experience his father has, he doesn't.
This is, without a doubt, a fantastic storyline and an amazing basis for the diceless role-playing game created from it by fans world-wide. AMBER.
