Okay, since THGttG is one of my all time favourite books I might be a trifle biased here. I have read the books many times but I sometimes like to listen to books instead of music when I'm walking or cycling so it was inevitable that I'd get this. Having all the books in one boxed set was perfect and the price VERY reasonable.

If you've seen the movie and didn't like it please, please, please don't be put off buying these books. The written story is a thousand percent better than the movie, the characters more real and better portrayed and unlike the movie NOTHING has been left out so you're not left wondering why something happened ar the history behind the characters. Even the voice over of the book is better and as for Marvin (the paranoid android) well you will not recognise him from the pathetic movie version. Oh yes and talking of pathetic wasn't the second head of Zaphod Beeblebrox terrible in the movie? It's soooo much better to hear or read of it and then it's much more realistic in your own imagination.

So whether your preference is the books or the CD's I wholeheartedly recommend this series of very funny stories.Read full review...

The Hitchhiker's Guide is a book which everyone should read. So having the chance to have it read to you by the likes of Stephen Fry and Martin Freeman is like, as perhaps the Hitchhiker's Guide itself would tell you, smooth butter easing into your ears on a Sunday afternoon.
