Old-fashioned scary movie like THE EXORCIST

This story takes place in 1971. The clothing, equipment, behavior, & hairstyles are authentic. This really feels like a movie that was made in the 1970s. It's almost like watching THE EXORCIST or the original AMITYVILLE HORROR. Same type of haunted house/possession plot. Though there may not be enough gore or sophisticated special effects for modern horror fans, the atmosphere and the acting make up for it. Doors banging in the night and chairs flying across the room may not sound all that scary. But if they were happening in real life in your home, they'd be cause for concern, and this film conveys that feeling. Minor quibble: why is it called THE CONJURING? Probably because all the more appropriate titles (THE EXORCIST, THE RITE, THE POSSESSION, THE HAUNTING, POLTERGEIST) were already taken.Read full review...

Old time scary movie

This is my 10 yr old granddaughters favorite movie. There are a couple of scenes that come up suddenly and makes you jump so I would be careful with the kids watching it. It says it is based on true events but I told my g.daughter it was just a scary movie and was not real. She has to watch it everytime she comes over!
