The Goalkeepers Revenge

I read this book as a child and the story's have stayed with me for over 40 years. This book feels right and has the fears, dreams and thoughts of young men and boys laid bare. I can remember feeling that the story's could have been about me and the situations were full of my own imaginings and dreams. This book has children living in an adult world with all the cruel intentions and competition that they need to contend with to survive. It is honest and brutal but the innocence and honesty of young people comes through; along with a nice bit of revenge.

Not old fashioned although set in a different time it is as relevant to young people today as it was to me 40 years ago. Get a copy for your primary school child and even read it to them, they will love it.

Brilliant book of short stories

I first heard the stories of this book as a nine year old. The stories are well written and raise interesting issues for discussion.
