An eye opener for many of us.

I bought this book because I am considering taking a history course that includes the Hundred Years War, which I knew almost nothing about. I now feel that I have a decent grasp of it, so it has done its job.
A very well written book, probably intended for "armchair" history buffs rather than serious students but very informative nonetheless. Seward explains motives very clearly. I was honestly shocked at just how brutal and murderous our own ancestors were. I also marvelled , at times, at just how successful they sometimes were.
My only criticisms of the book are very minor: it is too big to fit in a pocket and I had a little difficulty following some of maps depicting various battles. You may not, of course.
