The Hunger - interesting ...
It was good, but David Bowie plays a particularly small role. Overall the story was what seemed to be a typical 80s, 90s movie.

Dream-Like Vampire Flick
Fun vampire movie with a dream-like quality. Definitely plays more like a trippy eighties music video than a mainstream film, but there's a story in there somewhere, and it shows just enough to those staring at its surface for any onlookers to understand. Good stuff. David Bowie has a great screen presence, too.Read full review

The Hunger
The movie is a slick, seductive non-traditional vampire movie, with a hint that the Miriam is much older (flashback to a moment in an airy room in ancient Egypt) than she seems. John is her latest lover; they hunt the underground clubs of New York, seducing, killing, feeding and disposing of their victims in a stylish and antiseptic manner; razor sharp ankhs as knives, no fangs and messy kills. The story really deals with Miriam's hunt for her next lover as John begins to age, rapidly, and what happens when eternal love is not quite the end it should be for both John and Miriam.
I liked the sexy, blood is lust and life and transient, versus love is pure and eternal and white and billowing breezes, dichotomy. It makes you think about the black and white/ good and evil simplicity.
I wish there had been more historical reference about John and Miriam, other than a single meeting in an 18th Century music room.
Overall, a great character piece for the late David Bowie as we watch him age to a very old man. If only he'd really gotten that chance.Read full review

Very good
Every goth/punk should have this masterpiece in their collection. A beautiful love story and a twist on Egyptian vampirism.

Love Catherine Deneuve
A great movie and overlook that it's time. Sensual and unnerving.
Even more relevant these days after the recent vampire flicks and television series.
