Good, Very Good, Very Good Indeed...

The Jam set an incredibly high standard with their last album "Setting Sons" and it was hard to think they could match that but match it they did. Possibly even surpassed it.

As polished as "In The City" wasn't "Sound Affects" is an incredibly powerful album packed with smooth performances of highly musical songs with meaningful and provocative lyrics that get you going. It is almost impossible not to sing along with them and it is virtually impossible to stay in your seat for some of them.

"Start" and "That's Entertainment" - two of my top ten Jam tracks of all time - are on this CD but that's not to discount any of the others.

"A Police car and a screaming siren..."

Lyrically speaking this is a brilliant album.
Musically speaking this is a brilliant album.

I think I have to say this is their best. They reached the top with this one and it was hard to see how they could better it. The end was surely in sight, it had to be downhill from this point on...

Get it.
Get it now.
Turn the light down low.
Turn the music up nice and high.

Enjoying it? Yeah, it doesn't get much better than this...

If you haven't got your own a copy borrow one and then you can buy one from eBay where they normally command a price of six or seven pounds but if you're really lucky you can, occasionally, pick one up for three or four quid. I hope you're lucky but, either way, it's worth a lot more than that!

One word of warning, just make sure you get the name right or else you could end up listening to creaking doors, thunderstorms and farmyard animals courtesy of the BBC Sound Effects library! Whatever turns you on...

Regards
tbod
