A classic

Oh how I love these Ruth Galloway books. Every time I start a new one it's like greeting long lost friends and I dread the day when one of them will no longer be in them!
At the onset of covid, Ruth is called to Norwich cathedral where the bones of a body are being excavated, believed to have been a victim of the plague.
Meanwhile DI Nelson is investigating the suspected suicide of a 52 year old woman, whom he has a feeling was definitely not a suicide. The team are busy working together interviewing the cleaner and friends, when Boris announces that the country is in lockdown!
In the meantime Ruth is trying to work out why her mother kept a photograph of Ruth's cottage with the words "Dawn 63" on the back. As her Mother always hated Ruth's cottage, why would she be keeping an old photograph of it from before Ruth was born?
It's a brilliant book, it flows nicely from chapter to chapter, which makes it really hard to put down.
Having read all the "Ruth Galloway" books now, I am beginning to find Ruth slightly annoying. She has become very indecisive and rather cold towards things. I am so glad that Kate her daughter is a much more loveable person, she seems to have inherited the softer, kinder side that her father possesses.
There are quite a few "laugh out loud" moments in this book which really made me chuckle, especially the very aptly named local crow!!!
I just can't wait for the next book in February 2023.

Norfolk mystery

I’m working my way through this series of murder mysteries set in Norfolk. Some are better than others but I’m getting to understand and know the characters. I liked this particular one as it was set in lockdown and I really related to that time. The storyline was good, missing people, the hint of a grey lady ghost and strange deaths. Was a little disappointed that the ending wasn’t properly explained so I was left wondering not who done it but why?

Good read

Elly Griffiths writes an easy read compelling novel. The murders are not the 'run of the mill' tales & the background story about the characters are not all important.
