Absolutely love LOTR and to have the extended versions makes it even better! Fantastic film set

Great set of movies. Unfortunate that they didnt come in with the main cover on. There is some issues with the viewing quality as the frames sometime freeze or a bit skippy. Excellent box set, especially the extended edition with directors shots etc. If you're not a Tolkein fan yet, try it, you may be pleasantly surprised. I believe that it is better than the normal DVD's, and was worth the money.

I love Lord of the Rings and bought the normal DVD of the trilogy (in a store)as I was unaware of the extended version. When I saw the extended version of the trilogy it answered some unanswered questions, so I started to look for the extended version for a decent price. I found such a site and bought it. There was however a small hitch with the product, it came from the UK and I had not noticed any comment that it will only work on all region DVD players (if I had I probably would not have bought it) and not those that are programmed for regions out side of the UK. Luckily I can play it on my tv DVD player as it will not work on my computer DVD player. I would recommend it to any Lord of the Rings fan who has a DVD player that can play multiple region DVD's.Read full review...

Great entertainment, wonderful story

Anyone who loves the story of The Lord of the Rings will love this extended film version yes I know some of the characters from the book have been left out but as a film people who have not read the book maybe encouraged to do so. The extended version explains things that the cinema film did not so the extra footage enhances the film. Each film is over 2 DVDs which is good as they are a long haul so with the break you can make yourself a cup of tea ! The clarity and sharpness of the picture and the sound quality on each DVD is very good. Each set came with 2 DVDs of information on the making of the films, which I didn't know but haven't played yet.Read full review...

A masterful interpretation of Tolkien's greatest work.

I'm sure that, since their release, the three Lord of The Rings films have been discussed to death!
I have to say, though, that, having read the books twice, years before, the shortened versions that were shown on the cinemas missed out some vital scenes that anyone who had NOT read the books would have struggled to understand how the characters got to where they did in the films, without the benefit of seeing the deleted scenes.
This 'extended' (or more complete) version enables the audience to follow this rather complex tale far more easily than they would have been able to otherwise.
I rate this trilogy as one of the best 3-part films ever made - and would say that, to get the storyline properly, you MUST watch this COMPLETE edition!Read full review...
