No question, one of the best B pictures to come out of the golden years of Hollywood. Worth watching just to see a top cast make the most of their roles in what is basically a low budget production set on a speeding train. This is what good film making is all about, the kind of movie that keeps you glued to the screen from the beginning to the end. Incidentally, there is no music, except for the roar of the train engine during the opening and closing credits. Good Films Can Come in Small Packages

This was a low budget B movie and does not attempt to be an epic detective film. The actors were well selected and not particularly based on their looks or personality...the real thing; even the supporting cast fit pretty well. The dialogue was real and not embellished with great one-liners that no one would think of on the spot like so many other phony detective movies.
