Slim but full of interest

Considering how difficult it must have been to uncover the history of the Picts (they left no trace of a written language) the book manages to convey the tale with a fascinating mix of facts and reasonable conjecture. It is both informative and interesting, in particular providing details of the relationships with other tribes and kingdoms in early Britain that both sustained the Picts and led to their eventual assimilation by the Scots. There is also a final chapter covering additional information resulting from recent archeological work. Well worth the money, and highly recommended.Read full review
