Pink Floyd & their fans miss you .. SYD Barrett .. this story told buy the guys themselves, awesome. I was around there shows at the time -What would have been if Syd had not tripped out on acid beyond the norm in Germany in the 70's - what a waste of tallent - 'SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMOND - SYD' ..R.I.P. - the most important,creative & influential rock band to tread the boards - no music ever created has come anyway near this ability to take you on a journey ....please Roger & Robert can you organise a few last venues in the uk - to give you own performance together to show this current generation the origins of PINK FLOYD in your own charismatic way ...ricks darkside...Read full review...

Excellent

As a huge Pink Floyd fan I knew the history and the sad exit from the band of poor Syd but was always wondering about the greater details and facts vs legends.

This DVD filled those gaps for me and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to know more about those early years and Syd's great contribution to it.Read full review...

for a while i wanted to see this dvd and it arrived the day before he died, very enjoyable footage not long enough but there is some unnecessary interviews given slightly more spacethan they should have , i would have preferred more footage of the band, at least a whole song or 2 but enjoyable none the lessRead full review...

a fantastic story of one of the most brilliant bands in the world. the rise and fall of the amazing and tallented syd barrett. a must for all floyd fans.

DVD Syd Barrett Story

Interesting insight into the life of this very sad man who died so recently and probably quite alone. He was indeed a genius! Should be quite a lesson to us all about the destruction caused by drugs! A short DVD but then so was poor Syd's life in a way.Read full review...

He just did too much acid

While this was sad to watch, as the ending was already tragically known, it was also fascinating to to re-visit that era and be reminded of the spirit (and fashions) of those times, and that mind-blowing heavy rock. Astronomy Domine - what an epitaph - from way back in 1967 it still rocks. The tribute to Syd, composed by the rest of the band, Shine On You Crazy Diamond takes on an added dimension when you see Dave Gilmour telling how Syd turned up on the day it was recorded, and how they barely recognised him. Interesting but sad

I watched this to know more about Syd.It was a very well made documentary but very sad as you see the sadness and unhappiness Syd and the rest of his friends gone through.
