The Queen

When news of the death of Princess Diana, undoubtedly the most famous woman in the world, breaks upon a shocked and disbelieving British public, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II retreats behind the walls of Balmoral Castle with her family, unable to comprehend the public response to the tragedy.

For Tony Blair, the popular and newly elected Prime Minister, the people's need for reassurance and support from their leaders is palpable. As the unprecedented outpouring of emotion grows ever stronger, Blair must find a way to reconnect the beloved Queen with the British public.

The Queen draws on scores of interviews with insiders and expert observers for its intimate, revealing and sometimes humorous portrait of a family in crisis and of a new Prime Minister operating at the height of his powers at a time of extraordinary private grief and public sorrow.

the queen dvd

We really enjoyed watching the queen dvd as it captured the queen and the royal family through there troubled time of princess Dianna death in a very truthful light , as it really happened. The acting in it is excellent and it really does capture you . The pieces of real life footage really does make it seem real , not just a made up story . We bought it because we like the royal family and its a bit of history as well. All in all a good buy.Read full review...

THE QUEEN

This outstanding film was made by Granada Television (part of the UK's ITV network) and is an outstanding example of what local TV companies can produce! Helen Mirren as "The Queen" is stunning! And a full supporting cast of not quite look-alikes add to the depth of the film. Filmed entirely in the UK with news footage from ITN's best reporters included adds to the reality of the situation. Whether we think Tony Blair really was this supportive of The Queen at this time may be suspect, but the film is outstandingly good with excellent photography, montage work including real news footage. (Look out for Sir Trevor McDonald in the opening sequence, and then a sucession of well know newscasters from the UK).
The Best of British!
God Save The Queen!

Great DVD - a truely classics!

It is very difficult to act as the Queen but I think Helen Mirren did a great job and now I learn the royal family a bit better.
