This item shipped quickly and timely. I currently own the Criterion DVD and the VHS of this movie. "The Rock (1996)" is one of my top 25 all time favourites. The late great Sean Connery, Nicolas Cage and Ed Harris give britalliant performances in this cult action thriller. My mother rented the VHS in late 1996 and I loved it. The next year I received the VHS as a Christmas present. I used to watch the movie every day after school. It's also on of my favourites of director Michael Bay after "Bad Boys (1995)" and "Armageddon (1998)". I could never get tired of watching this edge-of-your-seat action adventure of a movie. "The Rock" has everything it needs to make an action film worthwhile: Non-stop action; humor and pulse-pounding, heart-stopping special effects. Ed Harris makes a good villain as Gen. Francis X. Hummel, who alongside a group of fellow terrorists plot to release a nerve-gas attack from Alcatraz to San Francisco, so now a former British Agent (Sean Connery) along with an FBI scientist (Nicolas Cage) must race against time to stop the destruction before it's too late. I'd watch this movie for the rest of my life if I could because of the nostalgic feel that this movie has. As a result, I will give this movie four stars! Slam-bang Action Flick

Great, action flick starring one of the biggest icons of Hollywood history, Sean Connery. This kind of movie is always best on Bluray because of the enhanced picture quality. I have a 4K, home theater with a 65 inch Sony television screen so my minimum is now Bluray. 4K is slightly better but more expensive. I have some 4K movies but a ton of Blurays left over from when that was the highest standard.Read full review

This is one of Nicholas Cages better movies and of course, having Sean and Ed in it helps. The story is great, the action even better and I just love this movie and all the stars in it.
