The Terminator

Great SF movie which became an instant cult film.

So successful was the film that it cemented the careers of the people that were involved James Cameron (director), Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Michael Biehn and Lance Henriksen.

Plot Summary:

In the year 2029, a sentient computer called Skynet is trying to destroy all humans, only John Connor the leader of the resistance, is preventing the annihilation of the the human race.

Skynet intends to destroy John Connor by sending a near indestructible android (a Terminator) back in time to kill John Connor's mother thereby preventing his birth.

John Connor finds out Skynet's plan and sends his own human agent to protect his mother.

This film has been released in many different version, if you want extras I am sure there will be a DVD suitable for you, as ever if you are looking for value for money try opting for the Trilogy boxset.Read full review...

the special effects are amazing and breathtaking
have watched it repeatedly and i would tell any sci fi fan action film fan get this film in your collection asap

Compelling Science Fiction

Absolute perfection as a stand alone movie. The whole idea was brilliant. It seemed as though they'd never run far enough! Arnold was perfectly cast as were the rest of this cracking cast. Fear is a hard thing to generate in a movie and this one had it in bucket loads! Definitely one of the best science fiction films of the '80s. Arnie's lack of dialog was a brilliant idea. His sole reasons for being there were made obvious by this. No nonsense prattle which I believe ruins movies. Watch the sequels to see what I mean. Fantastic movie, a must see. The only complaint I have is why oh why were sequels made. Usually sequels are made to enhance the original. Not so in this case. Have only just seen the cuts which were on the bonus disc. Oh wow. They really set it up for the sequel. Still, this is by far the best one.....Read full review...
