Just give it a go…

I put of watching this version of The Thing because of some bad reviews and haters but this film is actually pretty good. A lot of effort has been made by its creative team to match the locations and items from JC’ The Thing it was interesting to see how things that are mentioned in the original fleshed out in this son.Read full review...

Poor

Re hash of the 82 movie too much CGI "but that's normal these days" why would any American's be in this group of people? Watchable but I doubt I'll watch it again?

Less sc-fi + more horror = a trashy movie

THE THING Matthijs_van_Heijningen_Jr. */**2011 This is a prequel to John Carpenters The Thing.
With a Dutch director of predominantly Norwegian cast and the lead character a woman. And that’s about the only thing that is good about the film. The whole thing lacks tension, lack’s beauty (and just think how beautiful snowscapes can be?) It lacks plausibility:
An alien space-ship is discovered in Antarctica and an alien is dug out. Whilst still frozen solid in a block of ice the Alien suddenly bursts to life in all its slimy glory. As an opt out from any biological accuracy, the alien replicates the cells of its host and thus can take on their appearance. However it starts off with huge claw, but generally presents itself with tentacles and slime, sphincters and carnivorous mouths. And it often takes on the appearance of a spider or an octopus. And it truly disgusting in it appearance and behaviour. But as always most sci-fi/ horror flics the alien bears no relation to any food chain, or hierarchy of life, and has a physical structure that seems to bear no relation to environment. No this is just sensationalist horror for crud-brains. Lots of burning of the beast in wooden huts? Truly awful and truly boring.

well it was an ok film, had wnted to veiw for some time just had noy got a copy,as hire is now not available.

Yes it was a good movie to watch, some different scenes although I do not think that they were trying to be exact as the original but still it was quite intense. I still think that the original was the best just like some other movie,s that were reproduced.Read full review...
