This DVD was an excellent documentary on the Waler - the very strong horses that were taken to the Middle East for the 2nd Light Horse Regiment. I found most interesting the story of "Bill the Bastard". This great horse Bill and Major Shanahan rode through the battlefield picking up four (4) soldiers who had lost their horses in the charge of Beersheba - amazingly carrying 3 men on his back and 2 in the stirrups . ... Beautifully portrayed from beginning to end! Having had my Grandfather in the Australian Light Horse Regiment from embarkment HMAT Karoo February 1915, Gallipoli, then returning to Egpyt travelling hundreds of kms through the harsh challenges of the Desert with their courageous, loyal horses till late 1918, this DVD The Waler could not help but bring more than a few tears.
