Challenge of a lifetime

When his son dies on his first night at the start of an epic walking pilgrimage from France to Santiago de Compostella a grieving father must undertake a journey that will change his life.

I saw the trailer for this when it came to cinema, went to see it within days and was captivated by it's tenderness and raw emotion. My friend who generally doesn't like my human adventure movies came with me. She was quiet during the showing and asked when it was done what I thought. My reply was that I enjoyed it so much I would love to walk a section of the route.

So what did I love about this movie? The characters are real, sometimes annoying as people can be. The story could be about the relationship between any parent and child who slip into poor communicating, expectation and dissatisfaction. The journey is certainly that, one of discovery and adventure, personal challenge and growth.

I enjoyed the movie so much I tried to go back and see it a few days later but it was gone, not many people went to see it so it was taken off. I was so glad I had seen it on the big screen just to get the scale of the places and a sense of how small and helpless the main character feels at times. I still think it's a beautifully tender collaboration between a real father/son team. The DVD is now is among my treasured possessions.

Is this a modern pilgrims progress? Watch it!

Apart from being delivered promptly, this DVD tells the believable story of a berieved father who unexpectedly sets out to complete a challenging pilgrimage that his estranged son had started. A journey of resolution and closure where he is joined by others in search of their own answers to life's baggage. Do they find the answers they sought?Read full review

Excellent film

Wonderfully crafted story, very moving, beautiful cinematic filming, humourous, great music, works well with the story, watch the interviews with Martin Sheen and Emilio Estevez on the DVD, both very passionate characters, lovely people. Did a motorcycle trip in 2016, went along part of "The Way", gave it a lot more meaning, would love to go back and do more of it, not sure about actually walking it but this film makes you want to do that.Read full review

Great film.

This a very thought provoking film. I have watched it previously and decided I wanted to purchase a copy. The main characters blend in together very well. It makes you feel like walking 'The Way' yourself.Read full review

A very good way to go indeed

Fine, underated film, not a hollywood blockbuster but proof the industry can still churn out interesting uplifting entertainment that is not ickily sweet. Very engaging. Little slow in places perhaps.Read full review

Great film

A film set in and around the Camino De Santiago, a pilgrimage walk from France across the top of Spain and into Santiago de Compostela. We join 4 characters, each walking the Camino for their own very different reasons. All with their own thoughts and struggles yet they come together in a motley grouping. Can they reach the end, conquer their fears and find a resolution ?

One to warm the cockles of your heart and lifts your spirits knowing that sometimes help comes from those whom you least expect to give it.

A good film on a DVD that plays just like new

It plays as if it's a new DVD.
The film is a sensitive, but entertaining portrayal of a small group of people walking the Camino de Santiago, each wishing that the experience will help them to deal with the various matters that are troubling them.
