The Wizard of Oz is the inspiration for magical

The classic of classics. A must watch for all ages. A wonderful romp through mystical, mythical lands only dreamed of after watching this awesome masterpiece of storytelling and filmaking. A film that in every sense of the meaning has to be seen to be believed. As a small child I didn't like many of the musicals of the golden age of film era. But this one captured my imagination and has held me in its magical trance like grip for years and years. Dorthy;s adventure into a dream like world of talking tin men, cowardly lions, dancing scarecrows and a winding yellow brick road has been embraced across the filmgoing world as one of the greatest movies ever made. And after seeing it leaves a long lasting impression that there is something great and wonderful about our world that is beyond the ordinary expectations of society and worldly values. A trademark in excellence in shaping a child's view of the world no ordinary scientific explanation can ever understand.Read full review...

The Wizard of Oz movie review

I have seen this movie more than 30 times in my lifetime. Believe it or not, I still see things during the movie that I marvel at. The black and white film to color, and back, is still a classic movie making genius effect. The thing that you have to remember that this movie was make in the 1940's, WAY before CG and other special effects were discovered. The acting is exceptional, and the story is very entertaining. I heartily endorse this movie for any age. Well, any age over 7. The witch, and those evil flying monkeys might be a little much for a very young child. The Wizard of Oz is in my top 10 favorite movies of all time.Read full review...

Classic family film

We watched this as a family Sat night. Even though it is over 70yrs old, my grandkids loved it! It was one of my grown daughter's favorite and she even changed her name to Dorothy when she was little unknown to me until one of her little friends asked if Dorothy could play! LOLRead full review...

a true classic

I remember The Wizard of Oz playing on TV when I was a kid. I used to be terrified by the Wicked Witch of the West, but I laughed at the Cowardly Lion and the Munchkins. To own it on DVD is fantastic! It is truly a classic for all ages.Read full review...

Young generation!

We grew up watching every year. The calendar was marked for that night. My Neice wanted this movie because a lot of her friends have never seen the Judy Garland Wizard of Oz. She loves it!

The Wizard of Oz

An orphaned young girl unhappy with her drab black-and-white existence on her aunt and uncle's dusty Kansas farm. Dorothy yearns to travel "over the rainbow" to a different world, and she gets her wish when a tornado whisks her and her little dog, Toto, to the Technicolorful land of Oz. Having offended the Wicked Witch of the West, Dorothy is protected from the old crone's wrath by the ruby slippers that she wears. At the suggestion of Glinda, the Good Witch of the North, Dorothy heads down the Yellow Brick Road to the Emerald City, where dwells the all-powerful Wizard of Oz, who might be able to help the girl return to Kansas. En route, she befriends a Scarecrow, a Tin Man and a Cowardly Lion. The Scarecrow would like to have some brains, the Tin Man craves a heart, and the Lion wants to attain courage and hoping that the Wizard will help them too, they join Dorothy on her odyssey to the Emerald City. But The Wizard of Oz remains by far the most wonderful versions of the classic tale. This movie is a classic because it is timeless and no matter your age, watching it always makes you feel young at heart. This movie still has its magic and always will.Read full review...
