The memoir is written by a twentieth century Scottish Traveller, set mostly in Angus. She gives an insight into a way of life that is alien to the average city dweller. The merits of Betsy Whyte's captivating 1930s autobiography deserve a better quality publication.
The original hardback did it much better justice, and there has been one paperback edition that was good. But most are meagre, both in format and quality of paper (now browning). Unfortunately this was one of those latter kind. . .Read full review...
