The 13th Warrior (DVD 2001)
A highly under rated epic. Great story, brilliant acting. At last a film depicting Norsemen in a non-steriotypical way. Don't know why this was not a big blockbuster....maybe a post 9/11 USA was not yet ready for a Muslim hero at the time. The meeting of two cultures so different and the mutual respect and true freindship that grows is one of the best parts of the film. Good character developement and a very clever solution to the obvious language barrier that would have exsisted. Bloody battle scenes. Loved it and would highly recommend.Read full review...
A Trip Down Memory Lane
while lookiing up old poems i came across the one feautred in this movie and then with child like glee i rushed onto ebay to see if i could find it. i waited very impatiently for the dvd to arive thank god it only took a few days and i put it straight in and tansported back into the wonderful world of norsemen one liners and antonia banderas in eyeliner.. i love this film and am very gald that i brought it it was in wondeful conditon and i really would nrecomend it to anyone male or female... :DRead full review...

I love this film it might not be to everyones taste but its got adventure, little romance, all the swords you can shake a ...sword at and its a little scary or as an adult shall I say disconcertig lol.
Banderas is good as a fish out of water who learns to live with his viking travellers.

The 13th Warrior
I bought this movie on recommendation, and was pleasantly suprised. Antonio Banderas is terrific in it as a poet-come-warrior, who proves you don't have to be all brawn to contribute in battle. Great atmosphere, and does not sell-out with a big budget ending - keeps it real throughout.

An engaging story brought to life with attention to detail.
Señor Banderas doing a pretty good job of acting, as opposed to being a movie star, a brief bit of understated brilliance from Omar Sharif, Vladimir Kulich is a revelation and a good turn from the rest. There are moments where it seems like an ensemble cast which gives an extra layer of believability to the company of Northmen gradually accepting the Arab outsider. The costumes and sets are great, with a convincing amount of dirt and the kind of robust decoration you'd expect. The way that the company begin to get killed off almost as soon as the scene has been set creates an increased sense of peril from the action, as you can't be sure that anyone other than Banderas will survive any given fight, and towards the end, even he might get skewered...Read full review...
Fireside viewing
As an action film it contains many facets of society. Religion, happiness, grief,fury,tenderness and of cause historical action even though it is ficticious.I have watched this film several times now and still see things that i had missed during the previous viewing.

This is an epic movie set during the viking era.
The narative is excellent with an awesome climax.
Dont waste your time with movies like troy, alexandra you need
to watch this classic unsung masterpiece.

FANTASTIC
This has got to be one of the best films of all times. I first saw it on Sky movies last year, and when I found one on Ebay, I did not hesitate to buy it.
You will not be disappointed :)

Not al all what you expect,it brings in a little of several things, is it magic, is it supernatural, a very good story with a twist to it. Well thought out, well filmed. Well worth watching.
