A show that you have to see to know how wonderful it is!
This is an amazing set of videos! Certainly the best videos from the 1960's! Emma Peel is the best character ever! It is a shame that she left the show to be on the James Bond movie, but we still have a lot of episodes!Read full review

The title says it all.
I love "The Avengers" starring Patrick Macnee and Diana Riggs. That was my favorite TV show of all time. I'm so happy to have this set of DVDs.

Great Series
I really enjoyed watching this went it first came to America and its still fun to watch today. Fell in love with Emma Peel and still am. Diana Rigg truly one of the first liberated women. Chemistry between Emma & Steed was great. Very innovated although one episode a take of of Agatha Christie's Ten Little Indians.Read full review

1960s British television at it's best.
American audiences instantly took to Diana Rigg when this series was later aired in the US. Along with the awesome Patrick Macnee as John Steed, this series is now legendary in the United States as well as in Britain. If you never saw much of British television of the 1960s this gives a huge insight to how it was (another series to do the same was "The Saint") I saw a lot of these when I was a kid and was hooked onto it. Highly recommended.Read full review

Enjoyable
each episode of The Avengers tends to leave the viewer feeling just a bit uplifted.
Emma Peel and her partner, John Steed, run into sometimes strange, often weird, situations and survive them every time, in classic hero style. The episodes are a blast from the past, the age of "England Swings," and exemplify some of the unique and different peculiarities of those days.Read full review

Supurb! Simply said.
The DVD set is a treasure chest of pleasure for being just what it is - the complete set of all 51 episodes of the original Patrick Macnee / Diana Rigg TV show The Avengers in a tidy quality package of 16 DVD discs - of the good kind that are printed only on the one side. 47 + hours of enjoyment.Read full review

Nostalgia at its best
The Emma Peel episodes were my favorites when I watched the original Avengers series years ago on PBS. Now those wonderful episodes are brought back to life on DVD. The earliest episodes are B&W, which adds to the nostalgia. I have to add that Diana is barely recognizable as herself because she was so young when these episodes were made. Patrick Macnee obviously enjoyed performing his role as John Steed, and played it to the hilt. I thoroughly enjoy watching these episodes and I'm glad I bought the DVD set. Read full review

THE GOOD OLD DAYS
I love the Avengers I was 8 years old when I use to watch it with my Grandmother and my sister it was so captive in keeping my attention and keeping up with the plot at such a young age for me. It certainly brings back childhood memories.Read full review

A throwback to lightweight but sophisticated comedy with an edge.
My only complaint is that the dvds are crammed into a case on top of each other and I needed
to purchase my own dvd case holders to insure they were not damaged. This is the manufacturers
fault. They should provide a better dvd case that does not allow the dvds to rub against each other.
So far I have not had any playback problems but I've only played back 5 of the discs so far.
The series itself is a gem and as funny and entertaining as I remember when I first saw it back in
the sixties. It's a sexy prelude to James Bond with the Fabulous Emma Peel ( Diana Rigg) and the
always entertaining John Steed (Patrick MaCnee). Its tongue in cheek, outragious and extremely
watchable. It puts most of todays garbage to shame, and shows that true entertainment needn't
be vulgar or crass.Read full review
